You should try that, if it solves the problem. ![]() Last edited by Horatio on Wed 6:27 pm edited 2 times in totalĪre you using the same modules as Knoppix do ? Do a lsmod in knoppix and compare with your Gentoo box. My kernel I'm running is 2.6.7-gentoo-r8, but I'v had this problem since I installed gentoo on this machine running linux-2.6.1-gentoo-r2. My processor is an Athlon64 3000+, and I have CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" set in /etc/nf. They are all loaded by hotpluging, and I know little*(nothing) about option pasted to them. Usbcore 104952 5 ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd,uhci_hcd Snd 47912 12 snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_via82xx,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device Snd_page_alloc 10256 2 snd_via82xx,snd_pcm Well here are the modules I have loaded in my gentoo system: ![]() Also when playing CDs after playing ogg/mp3 I have to turn the volume down a lot. Albeit, in my gentoo system with pcm and master volume at 100% unmuted I can just ear the mp3/ogg file I'm playing with xmms. I can boot knoppix, put pcm and master volume to 100% unmuted, and then play mp3/ogg files, /w xmms, at an ear deafening volume.
